The last three years I’ve been doing Sadhanas every few months to spend time focused on myself. It’s my ultimate practice of self care, being very spiritual in nature.
Sadhana is a spiritual practice or ritual, it usually means fasting in the traditional sense of the word, however, I don’t fast food, It’s almost as if I have found myself to be fasting distraction. Focused on a topic or theme, concentrating on reflection and learning my Blessons = Blessing+Lesson. This always helps me with remaining in the present IZness and going through each day in a mindful state. The ritual and ceremony of the smallest of tasks. Even in preparing food for my family, there is something quite amazing about the whole thing when you are plugged in to what it is you are doing at any given point in time. Everything that you experience can be utilised as a sadhana to bring about a deeper understanding of who you are and to lead you to your highest self, the evolution on the unfolding road map of our lives.

It is such a gift to spend each day in at least 20 to 30 minutes of meditation, to read something about the topic/theme and reflect in journalling. This process of study, of witnessing and reviewing has provided me with insights that have allowed me to release old beliefs, old values and old meanings. To without self flagellation or punishment to learn – in the truest sense of the word, as in, when presented with a similar situation, choosing the new way. Not just an intellectual or thought pursuit. Real life changes and blessed lessons.
During these 21 day online Sadhanas I find that it’s a reminder of the holiness and awe(someness) of life that gets forgotten when you’re just mumming or job/home/job/home routine of things.
Each Sadhana, I write an online journal in my google docs – easy to access from my phone or computer to write about what ever pops into my experience during that time. (on the phone I’ve got the google docs app). It’s a brilliant tool to slow down the ‘reactive responses’ and to really see, hear and feel that which is being brought to my attention to be loved and transformed. Mostly it’s just to be accepted and loved. But on occasion there is a level of transformation that makes me smile and just enjoy being me in a much richer way. One of the Sadhanas we were out camping in the middle of nowhere with no phone reception but I’d already downloaded the meditation track and was able to use the document without and issues.

The important part is making a daily habit, practice and ritual out of the things that will help expand your mind and give you a deepening of insight or at least clarity of mind.
You can choose to Sadhana for what ever period of time you’d like and on what ever topic.
I adore all the different ones we’ve been doing, and am so so excited about the next one. I think it’s gonna be a massive one – *they’ve ALL been massive! – Kali Ma Sadhana!
